Get Rid of the Disease

Have you ever thought, "I'm only in High school or Junior High, how could I possibly make a difference in the church?" Well if you do feel this way then you have just diagnosed yourself with a very serious and very common disease-the "I'm young, I can't do anything, I won't be excited and participate in church until I can do things" disease. Now there is one good thing and a lot of bad things about this disease! The good thing is that your motives are good. Sometimes older people in the church take away a lot from the young people. As a result, the cycle begins (And really never stops) with young people thinking, "Church is a lot about the older people who can do things and participate." Honestly you can't be more wrong! You don't have to be a certain age to love Jesus more than someone else; you don't have to be a certain education level to make a difference! Think about Jesus! He was talking to people two, three, four, maybe five times about his age in the temple and "everyone was amazed at his understanding and his answers" (Luke 2:47). Young people these days (and I've been there too) fall into the temptation to blame everything on school, activities, and say "I just don't have time to read and pray today. I'm too busy!" Well if you are a young person reading this then I want you to realize something. Older people (maybe even your parents) say the exact same thing. See you don't have to make a huge difference so that everyone will know that you're in church and that you want to be involved. Maybe something as small and simple as daily Bible reading and prayer can be the missing piece of the puzzle God can use to get other people to become excited as well!! People no matter what age notice someone on fire for Jesus!!!! 1 Timothy 4:12 says, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, and in purity." Sometimes we all (young and old) would do well to remember that it's not about what "I" can bring, but what God can bring through you!!! He can't use you if you have "I'm young, I can't do anything, I'll won't be excited and participate in church until I can do things" disease. Why? Because, you won't let him, your too busy letting your age get in the way. Get fired up for Jesus, and don't hold back no matter who is watching, no matter who is talking about you. Why? Remember they talked about and watched our Lord and the whole world noticed!!!!!
