Keep It: Step Three
Previously, we’ve talked about renewing your desire to have a great marriage and how to work at doing what God’s asked you to do to move closer to that great marriage.
Now it’s time to realize that having a great marriage is not a destination, but a journey. There is never going to come a day where you wake up and say “wow, I’ve arrived at a great marriage, I’m done.” Vicky and I understand that in order to have a great marriage we have to work at to keep it strong, to keep the passion for each another. Let me just say it doesn’t matter how long you been in your marriage you’re not done. The great marriage relationship is a journey. It’s a process that needs maintenance to keep from slipping back down into mediocrity.
Continue feeding your marriage with what you’ve previously learned from God’s word. Just like your body, your marriage needs constant nourishment.
Be consistent and do those things to show love to your spouse…even when you don’t feel like it or when your husband or wife doesn’t deserve it.
As you keep up the consistency, you’ll probably find that you no longer “work” at it, because you’ve readjusted your thinking to line up with God’s thinking. When you get to this point, loving your spouse the way God intended is becoming a habit.
Keep up the good work and remember that God wants you to have that great marriage.
If this has been helpful in your marriage?
Then here’s how you can help us continue to spread the word and help others!
